What are We Learning
Today?
0601.1.7 Identify within context a
variety of appropriate sentencecombining techniques.
In other words, we are learning to
combine sentences by using
appositives.
What are Appositives?

Nouns or noun phrases that rename
or identify a noun

In a sentence, they are set off by
commas.
Appositives
Rita, a good friend of mine, works as a
police officer.

FACE OFF

The class will be divided into TWO teams.

A player from each team will come to the board
for a FACE OFF!

I will display two sentences.

The first player to correctly combine the two
sentences USING AN APPOSITIVE earns a
point for his/her team.
