Your college won’t let you connect to
university networks until you install security

• Install anti-virus software
• Sophos version 5 (V5) is included on patch CD
• Many colleges will install Sophos for you
• Other colleges expect you to install it yourself
• Keep it up to date (your anti-virus program is only as good as
the last time it was updated with the latest virus definitions!)
• The Sophos V5 client on the patch CD will auto-update directly
from Sophos, subject to annual renewal
• Some colleges will download anti-virus updates (virus IDE files)
automatically from a college computer server
• Others expect you to download anti-virus updates yourself from
either a college or OUCS server
• If you have registered with OUCS as a Sophos user, OUCS will send
an email when Sophos updates are available

• Internet Explorer and Outlook can be prone to more security risks
