LEONARDO DA VINCI
• Leonardo da Vinci 15/4/1452 – +2/5/1519,
was an Italian Renaissance polymath: painter,
sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician,
engineer, inventor, anatomist,
geologist, cartographer, botanists, and writer.
• His genius, perhaps more than that of any
other figure, epitomized the Renaissance
humanist ideal. Leonardo has often been
described as the archetype of the Renaissance
Man, a man of "unquenchable curiosity" and
"feverishly inventive imagination"

SAN FRANCESCO D’ASSISI
Dress of
St. Francis
• San Francesco d’ Assisi, born Giovanni di
Pietro di Bernardone,
nicknamed Francesco by his father,
(1181/1182 – +3/10/1226) was an
Italian Catholic friar and preacher. He founded
the men's Order of Friars Minor, the
women’s Order of St. Clare, and the Third
Order of Saint Francis for men and women.
• Though he was never ordained to the Catholic
priesthood, Francesco is one of the most
venerated religious figures in history
The compassion that inspired
him for the weak, the
outcasts, the sick, would be
transformed into a real "fever
of love" to the next.
For a time he stood alone,
busy repairing some ruined
churches, such as the
