DRUGS AND THE MEDIA
How does the media portray drug us?
 In a negative or a positive way.

DRUGS AND THE MEDIA
Most of the time drug use is portrayed as
negative in the media.
 Some of the more positive commercials come from
over the counter drug commercials or
prescription drug commercials.

DRUGS AND THE MEDIA
Do you think that drug use or drug dealing is
glamorized by the media?
 How so?

DRUGS AND THE MEDIA
There are a lot of movies and television shows
that often center around drug use and drug
dealing.
 Do you think that these shows do this to promote
drug use, prevent drug use, or do it just to get
people to watch their movies or shows?

Many students like yourself are exposed to these
images and songs on a daily basis.
 Do these or any other videos, television shows, or
songs determine how you feel about drugs?

DRUGS AND THE MEDIA
Think about a celebrity that you like or admire.
 How would you feel about that person if they
were arrested for drug use or dealing drugs?
 Would you continue to support that person?
Why? Or Why not?

DRUGS AND THE MEDIA
Now imagine that you and a group of friends
have been asked to design a poster that will
made into a bill board.
 The bill board will be put up on road signs and on
the side of buses, basically everywhere.
 The billboard must be an anti-drug bill board
 There must be an illustration made for it and
there needs to be a slogan to go with it.
