Meter, Sensor &
Transducer
Applications
Unit Portfolio Presentation
Unit Summary
•
This unit focuses on students understanding
everyday applications, usage of meters, sensors
and transducers.
•
After completing this module students will
demonstrate understanding of meter, sensor and
transducer applications reinforced through hands
on experiments.
Curriculum-Framing Questions

Essential Question

What do all these tools have in common?
What can we use to measure any physical quantity?

Unit Questions


How can we measure a temperature?
How and what can we use to measure electrical
quantities?

Content Questions
Can you name some sensors that could be used to
measure temperature?
 How can you measure a car speed? Battery voltage?
 What is the name of device used to measure current?
Measurements Project
This project will help my students develop 21st
century skills by:
• Collaborating with peers.
• Conduct lab experiments utilizing, meters, sensors and
transducers. and drawing conclusions to answer Unit
Questions
• Solving problems and making decisions about their
experiment.
• Communicating with others on the wiki.
Gauging Student Needs
Assessment
Purpose of the Assessment
To gather information about what students already know and what they wonder
about sensor applications.
What I want to learn from my students?
I want to find out what they already know about the Unit Questions and what they
know about setting up experiments.
How I have tried to promote higher-order thinking?
I ask students to find relationships and draw conclusions about using
sensors/transducers
How the assessment information helps me and my students plan for
upcoming activities in the unit?
If students have different levels of understanding about the importance of
sensors, I can provide various resources. We will revisit this assessment throughout
the unit for students to add their knowledge.
What feedback or additional ideas I’d like?
Students asking about other places where sensors and meter could be used.
My Goals for the Course
Find ways to get my students more interested in
understanding the tools and their application.
 Learn about different kinds of technology my
students and I can use.
 Share ideas with other students.

Goals for My Students
To understand the application and utilization of the
tools in the lab.
 To become more independent learners

Request for Feedback
Classroom discussion
 Students write question and ask each
other.

