Location
The Eucalyptus
Woodlands are
mainly found
on the south
eastern coast
of Australia.
Climate
Climate doesn’t have extremes
Northern eucalyptus forest- Has an
average of 4 inches of rainfall a
month but it rains about 11-12 days
per month
Southern- Has an average of 4-5
inches of rain a month with about 8
rainy days per month

Sclerophyll forest
Doesn’t lose its leaves every year and it
doesn’t have dormant periods.
Growth is continual
Takes advantage of any rain it receives
Able to generate a growth spurt
Doesn’t lose leaves in dry times

Live in the Eucalyptus trees
Live in societies
Strong claws and opposable thumbs on
front and hind legs
Feed on the leaves of the Eucalyptus
Slow metabolic rate

Die back
Long droughts
Effects of threats
No food, shelter, or social contact for the
koala population
Less trees= Unhealthy koala population
Koala’s prefer trees that have adequate
rainfall and more nutrients
