Bats Life Cycle




A brown bat's life cycle has many steps.
Baby bats are born after about 50-60 days in
their mother's body.
Baby bats are born in the month of September,
and they stay with their mother until 6 years are
over.
The pup will start to fly at 2-3 months of age.
Bat Species



There are many species of bats in Indiana.
Southern Indiana has twelve known species of
bats.
They are the Eastern Red Bat, Rafinesque, Big
Eared Bat, and the Silver Haired Bat. Some
other bat species are the Eastern Pipistrelle, the
Hoary, the Evening Bat, the Big Brown, the
Little Brown, and the Eastern Small Footed Bat.
Bats and the Environment




Bats fertilize people's crops. In fact, bat's poop,
called guono, is the best fertilizer known to
man.
Bats can help people because they eat 1000
mosquitoes per hour.
Megabats eat fruits. Bananas are one of the
main fruits they eat.
Bats can help people's crops because they eat
many of the insects that destroy crops.
