Travel Brochure
Regular Classes
Your task is to create a three-part travel brochure on the three regions of the 13 English
Colonies using class notes, your text, and handouts available in class.
Your brochure should contain:
1. A cover with a title and attractive artwork
2. A New England Section complete with a
*Map
*List of colonies and description of each
*Major economic industries
*Geographic information – weather, landforms, water ways, etc.
* Religions present in colony
* Anything else you think might be interesting like famous people from area, etc.
3. A Middle Colonies Section complete with a
*Map
*List of colonies and description of each
* Major economic industries
* Geographic information – weather, landforms, water ways, etc.
* Religions present in colony
* Anything else you think might be interesting or important
4. A Southern Colonies Section complete with the same things as the other two regions.
5. A short sales pitch about why someone from England should move to America
6. Art work, graphics, symbols, and other things to make your brochure attractive
7. Your name, teacher, and class period on the back page.
• Politics: Who is in charge of the colony? What
rights will I have? Is there representative government
or protection from the King?
•Economics: How will do people make a living there?
What opportunities will my children and children’s
children have in the future? Can my dreams come
true here?
•Religion: Will I be able to practice my religion freely
whatever it may be? Will I protected from people of
different religions who may influence my children? Is
the church sponsored by the government or visa
versa?
• Social Structure: What do people do for fun? Are one
group of people considered better than another? Why?
Do castes exist in this area?
•Intellectual Opportunities: Is education offered to
anyone? Who pays for schools? Church?
Government?
•Artistic Expression: How do people express
themselves? Dance, art? Music? Parties etc?
•Geographic Factors: Climate? Weather? Population
density? Mountains? Rivers? Bays? Forests? Soil?
•Major cities in each region, population densities?
