The Cyprus, officially the Republic
of Cyprus is an independent
island nation in the eastern
Mediterranean. Maritime borders
with Greece (Kastelorizo), Turkey,
Syria, Lebanon, Israel and
Egypt. The north side is occupied
by Turkey since 1974. In 1983,
in violation of the Charter of the
United Nations, Turkey made the
proclamation of the so-called
"Turkish Republic of Northern
Cyprus" which has so far
recognized only by Turkey.

Bamies(Μπάμιες)
Bamies (okra or ladies' fingers) are
baked in the oven with tomato and
oil, and kounoupidhi (cauliflower) is
also given this treatment. Cauliflower
is also made into moungra, a sour
pickle covered with a marinade of
vinegar, yeast, and mustard seeds. It
is also cooked in tomato sauce,
onions and mince meat.
FLAOYNES
Flaouna or Flaounes in the plural
(Greek: φλαούνα), is a special
Easter[1] and Ramadan food eaten
on the island of Cyprus by the
mainly Orthodox Greeks and Muslim
Turkish Cypriots. They are a cheese
filled pastry, which sometimes also
include raisins or can be garnished
with sesame seeds.

Zivania or zivana (Greek: ζιβανία,
ζιβάνα)[1] is a Cypriot pomace
brandy produced from a mixture of
grape pomace and local dry wines
made from Xynisteri and Black
grapes.Zivania stills are similar to
those used for tsikoudia in Crete.
Zivania is colorless and alcoholic
with a light aroma of raisins. Its
alcohol content varies, with 45% by
volume being the typical value.
Zivania contains no sugars and has
no acidity.
FLORA-FAUNA
17% of the total area of Cyprus is
covered by forests. The island

of evergreen and deciduous trees,
shrubs and flowers, some 1,800
indigenous species, subspecies and
varieties of which 140 (7%) are
endemic.The fauna of Cyprus
includes 365 bird species, of which
115 breed on the island. Two
species and five subspecies are
classified as endemic. But the most
interesting of the Cypriot fauna is
endemic species of animal, the
Cyprus mouflon, which belongs to
the family of sheep and is the only
species in the world.
CLIMATE OF CYPRUS
Cyprus has a subtropical climate Mediterranean and semi-arid type (in the
north-eastern part of island) - according to
Köppen climate classification signes Csa
and BSh,with very mild winters (on the
coast) and warm to hot summers. Snow is
possible only in the Troodos mountains in
the central part of the island. Rain occurs
mainly in winter, with summer being
generally dry.
RELIGION
The overwhelming majority of Greek Cypriots are Orthodox
Christians and adhere to the Autocephalous Greek Orthodox
Church of Cyprus. Most Turkish Cypriots are Muslims . In
Cyprus there are also other smaller communities such as : the
Jewish , the Protestant , the Catholic , the Maronite and an
Armenian belonging to other faiths respectively . Also , there
are 2,514 Jehovah's Witnesses and 428 Mormon Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints .

and for 17 countries and a special state

it is cutting .The Cyprus joined the
European Union in 2004 and on
February 13, 2007 submitted a request
for accession in the Eurozone. The
country was admitted to the Eurozone
and replaced the Cyprus pound to the
euro on January 1, 2008 .
KABO GREKO
The Cape Greco headland is also
small peninsula in the southeast of
Cyprus , in Famagusta District ,
between Agia Napa and Paralimni
. The area is designated national
forest park , and be incorporated in
the Natura 2000 (Natura 2000),
and covers an area of 384.9
hectares.
GREEN LINE
Green Line or officially called
"interleaved line UN Cyprus ' is
the boundary between free and
occupied areas by Turkey regions of
the Republic. Like all the lands of
the island belonging to the Republic

PETRA TOU ROMIOU
One of the most beautiful beaches of Cyprus
with outstanding natural beauty where,
according to legend, emerged from the waves
Aphrodite, the Goddess of Beauty and Love.
From this fact the site was named Rock Coast
or Venus. Petra tou Romiou name associated
with Digenis Akritas, legendary Byzantine
hero. Sometime during the years of Arab
raids Dighenis grabbed a boulder and with
superhuman strength threw him over the
Saracens who were trying to land on the coast.
The rock remains since there and gave it to
the whole region of the Romiou Petra name
(Digenis).
