Video Distribution Over MPLS Networks Supporting Heterogeneous Format Environments
VIDIOS General Architecture
Customer pays for a quality level
Key retrieved using MIKEY
Video client decrypts the stream
Service Provider ensures DRM based on access control
AAA server provides authorization by NAS-SAML
Video server guarantees QoS using admission control
Video server protects the stream by encrypting it
QoS and BoD based on the customer’s profile
DiffServ to provide QoS and BoD
Proxy applies QoS and BoD
The streaming is controlling using RTSP
MPEG4/H.264 and MPEG2 is used to encode contents
Internet Provider and Content Provider form a confederation
DIAMETER is used to exchange information about customers
MPLS enables traffic differentiation to provide different QoS
Techniques included to improve the reliability of the network:
- FEC to correct errors
- Buffering to solve jitter
- RTP enables packet reordering and error notification
Project Partners
-University of Murcia
-Scopus
-Telefonica I+D
-Satec
The main aim of the VIDIOS project is the design of a video distribution architecture for broadband access
networks connected to an IP/MPLS backbone by means of standardized equipment and protocols.
