• The Eighteenth Amendment
– Made it illegal to sell alcohol anywhere in the
U.S.
– The amendment gained more support in 1917
as the U.S. entered WWI.
– Temperance supporters said that the grain
used to make liquor should be used to feed
the soldiers in the War.
