 Main geodetic framework in Brazil
 Main link to global reference frames
 SIRGAS2000 is realized in Brazil mainly through its stations
Stations with last generation double frequency GNSS receivers
Daily files available on internet after 24 hours of observation
History
In operation since 1997 with 9 stations
Station´s Configuration
Double frequency receivers with computers
Phone communications
Daily files – RINEX format
Daily files freely available on Internet within 24h after the

Expansion Plan
Cooperation Agreement was signed in 2006 between
IBGE and INCRA
In 2007 INCRA acquired 83 double frequency receivers
with the main features
 IP network port for connecting the receiver to
LAN/Internet with no local computer

Be remotely controlled through Internet

Both store and transfer data through Internet to
the Network Control Center

Be slaved to external frequency standard input

Possibility of L2C and L5 signals tracking or
easily upgradeable
Expansion Plan
All stations have 24 hours internet connection
(cable or satellite link)
Data availability:
 Hourly-5 sec (INCRA website) and
 Daily-15 sec (IBGE website)
Future: 100+ stations by 2014

RBMC Real Time Sub-network - RBMC-IP
NTRIP protocol
IBGE caster streaming data from 26 mountpoints located in
main cities
Format: RTCM (version 3) format or any GNSS format (RAW,
RINEX)
9 stations belong to RTIGS and IGS-IP networks
Free access through login and password – each user can get
real time data of up to 3 stations, during 90 days, after which
he/she has to renew the login and password
A new version of NTRIP client, BNC 2.2, allows clocks
corrections for SIRGAS2000, providing RTK solutions directly
in SIRGAS2000 with no need of additional transformations

Modernization Plan
Cooperation Project between
IBGE /Agência Brasileira de Cooperação (ABC) and
University of New Brunswick (UNB)/Canadian
International Development Agency (CIDA)
Generation of real-time WADGPS corrections
Technology transfer from NRCan – CDGPS
(Real-Time Canada Wide DGPS Service)
Modernization Plan
Pilot Project: 26 stations (RBMC-IP) – transmitting data for
computation of WADGPS corrections and sending through
Internet
Expected horizontal accuracy
 about 1 meter (95%) for single frequency users
 about 0.5 meter (95%) or better for double frequency
users
Schedule
 Installation of systems (RTAP and GPSC)
 Evaluation and tests (2009 to 2011), and operation (2012)
Modernization Plan - Equipments
2 servers HP - Itanium2 (Processing)
Configuration: Proc. 1.6 Ghz / 6 Mb-cache / 2 HD SCSI
73Gb 2Gb RAM
2 servers Opteron Dual Core (Data Base)
Configuration: Proc. 1.8 Ghz / 2 Mb-cache / 4 HD SATA
400Gb / 2Gb RAM
Time server (Rubidium standard)
Nobreak system for the Control Center
Modernization Plan
Steps of WADGPS System Implementation
(1) Connect a subset of receivers to atomic clock. CEEU (located in
Fortaleza) is connected to a Hydrogen Maser and ONRJ
(located in Rio de Janeiro) is connected to a Cesium clock that
belongs to the Brazilian Time Service at the National
Observatory
(2) Operate a group of stations streaming data in real-time
(3) Installation of servers responsible for the computation of
corrections
(4) Installation and configuration of software for data format
conversion, data scan and data base management, and
computation of corrections (RTAP)
(5) Installation and configuration of a NTP time server (to slave the
server's CPU to GPS time)
(6) Near real-time orbit computations
