LOCATION, RANGE AND CONTENT OR
COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION FACILITIES
A local radio station for example heart fm would advertise and talk about local
events and businesses. These stations commonly stick to pop not necessarily recent
music or artist. Local business can easily approach stations like this and expect there
ad to be aired or even have an ad made for them by the station itself. Stations can
be approached be companies to create radio commercials for them, this is very
popular within large companies because a company like Nike for example have the
production of shoes and have the money to employ a team of people to create an
ad for them where as a small independent shop might have to work with a radio
station to create a short ad that can be used on the radio.

THE PRODUCTION, PURPOSE AND STYLES OF MUSIC
USED IN RADIO COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION
Radio can coverall genres of music and styles. Each presenter usually has there own
style and each play different types to suit there target audience, stations like radio 1
and capital FM mainly focus on pop/ chart music during the day then move onto
grime and garage after the watershed. Different styles of music appeal to different
people so for a station to cover a wide Varity of genres and styles is good because
even though some people might tune out of the station more people would tune,
having more then just one or two genres being on throughout the whole day prevents
the listener from getting bored, this is why many DJs adapt there own there own
styles and then become known for playing a certain genre of music for example
Gregg James a DJ for radio 1 mainly focuses on recent pop music. Music beds used
for commercial usually try and represent what the product or service is for example
an ad for the RAF would have serious music if any at all on the other hand an advert
for centre parks would have very positive and jolly music to try and represent what a
good time you would have if you went and stayed.
BUDGETING AND FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS IN
RADIO COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION
The majority of radio stations rely on advertisement for there income, bbc radio one
does not have adverts aired on there shows because they don’t need the income this
also ups the popularity of the station because many people think adds are annoying
and or off putting. A station can either be paid to but an on air or they can be paid
to create an ad for a company. Stations also sponsor events or channels witch then
brings in more listeners to the station.
