JANUARY 26th SOCIAL PROGRAMME: THE ROMAN HOUSES
The Basilica of Ss. Giovanni e Paolo now stands over a magnificent residential complex comprising several houses of different periods. This monument
originated in a variety of building types including an insula or apartment block of artisans, ad a wealthy domus, which was subsequently converted into
an early Christian church. During the third century A.D., these different proprieties were combined under a single owner and transformed into an
elegant pagan house characterized by finely-decorated rooms. The participants will have the chance to visit the site and dine as the ancient Romans
did, tasting the original recipes and wine from that time. The unique possibility of living the real Roman way.
The tour of the Roman Homes in Celio is a unique occasion in Rome, in Italy and the word to have an ancient Rome banquet in an original home of
2000 years ago.
This complex of fifteen very ancient rooms, all covered and perfectly maintained rises immediately close to the Colosseum on the Celio hill.
It is a roman villa dated III century a.C with frescos, mosaics, nymphaeums, multicolour marbles and stories, legends and magical atmospheres.
Here the guest will live an exclusive night with a trip in time and taste. The tour will last 40 minutes and will be followed by buffet dinner with the
original menu including recipes from the Roman age.
A bus will pick-up participants at the hotel at 19.00
