Job Description
Park rangers teach people how to respect
the nature balance of many state parks
and forests.
 Park rangers also protect natural
resources.
 Apart from protecting animals and plants
they protect people.

 Like a rock climber who has fallen
 Or the ranger chases away a bear that is
threatening a human
Educational Requirements
Park rangers usually have to
have a bachelors degree
however some high school
graduates might be eligible for
a park ranger position.
 The individual interested in
being a park ranger should
study botany, zoology, geology
and ecology in college. Other
helpful studies are park
management, forestry, and the
social sciences
 To uphold a Park Ranger job
you have to be at least 18
years of age


rangers are enjoying
outdoors and enjoy
helping people in
trouble. Rangers should
also be creative,
responsible, respectful,
and energetic.
Physical traits of a park
ranger include physical
strength, good health,
and good eyesight.

 Being able to educate many young minds
with knowledge that are able to teach
them throughout your experience as a

Working for long hours
during the summer.
 Can be expected to be
assigned to different
areas of the country
without knowing when or
where. Also not knowing
if or how long they will

How does this help society
This job helps keep the national parks and
forests clean and safe for animals and wild
plants to be able to roam free.
 Park Rangers also save people from falling of
rocks and getting mulled be an animal.
 It also makes sure the animals are getting clean
air and water. Most of the parks have rivers that
run through them. In these river people pollute
so the park rangers make sure they are getting
clean water.

Job outlook
The employment outlook is poor for a job as a
park ranger.
 The number of park ranger jobs is said to
decrease in 2014.
 It is said that many parks are going to raise its
need for volunteers and lessen its need for
employed rangers.
 Since they are raising the prices for equipment
and pay they have to cut a lot of park rangers
this year (2013)

Average Salary





The median salary for park rangers is
$30,000
Experienced rangers usually earn $47,000 to
$50,000 per year.
Rangers at state parks usually earn less then
rangers at national parks.
Rangers get paid vacations and holidays,
health insurance, and other benefits given to
state employees.
