Statistics
Statistics is the study of data.
Throughout the year, students will learn how to
interpret and represent certain data using graphical
methods and numerical calculations.
Students will study chances and outcomes of
probability.
After studying how to run an unbiased and accurate
experiment or survey, students will perform one of
their own using all the knowledge they have gained
throughout the year.
Homework
The assignment is always written on the board at the
beginning of the period.
Students are given a book to keep at home.
Homework assignments are in the textbook.
Any assignment that must be handed in will not be
accepted late. If absent, students are to email me
the assignment on the due date.
Tests/Quizzes
There is typically a review before a test or quiz.
Students know about tests and quizzes about a week
in advance. (On the board)
If they are absent on the day of the review, they are
still responsible to take the test/quiz.
If they are absent on the day of the test, they have to
email me by the end of the day to make an
appointment with me to make it up before school or
during lunch.
Extra Help
Everyday I am available before school after 7:30am
and after school. Sometimes I have a zero period on
Tuesdays and Thursdays for SAT prep.
In addition, the math resource room is available.
There is a teacher located in that room every lunch
period and willing to help students with their
questions.
Journal
Every week, students are to find an example of what
we are learning in a newspaper, magazine or online
article and explain the use of that statistical topic in
the article.
Journals will be submitted through the google
classroom at the end of each marking period. Dates
and examples are on my webpage.
