calculator you like as long as it can calculate
factorials, permutations, combinations, means
and standard deviations and has trigonometric
functions.

A 90 to 100%
B 80 to 89.9%
C 70 to 79.9%
D 60 to 69.9%

Midterm Exams – 50%
Final Exam (exam 6) – 10%
Homework and quizzes – 40%
E below 60%

• Midterm Exams
Schedule exams with the instructor on Fridays
during class time.
These exams are taken in the Math Testing
Center (PSA 21)
• Final Date and Time
Exam 6 will be taken at the time of the scheduled
final exam if it is not taken prior to May 5.

Studying and Preparation Time: The
course requires you to spend time
preparing and completing assignments.
A three-credit course requires a
minimum of 135 hours of student work.

This course is sectioned into six
modules. Each module consists of
homework assignments, quizzes, and a
test.

Sets and Counting Module: 4 homework

Diagrams, Introductions to Combinatorics,
and Permutations and Combinations

Course Set-up (Quizzes)
Quizzes: Quizzes will be given during
the regularly scheduled class meeting
time and will be based upon homework
problems. Quizzes will be "open
notes". Only one attempt is permitted
per quiz.

Tests: When all homework for a
module is completed with an average of
90% and all quizzed for a module are
taken, you may arrange with the
instructor to take the exam for the
module. It will take a minimum of 24
hours after you have arranged to take
an exam for a test to be available in
the Testing Center for you to take.

Tests: Most exams will be taken in the
Math Testing Center (PSA 21). Exams
taken in the Math Testing Center are
untimed. A test that is taken during
the scheduled final exam period is
timed (maximum of 1 hour and 50
minutes). Only one attempt is
permitted per test.

Benchmark deadlines: In order to meet
University requirements for providing
academic status reports, there is a minimum
pace for this course. The Logic Module and
the Sets and Counting Modules must be
completed (including tests taken) by
February 26.

University requirements for providing
academic status reports, there is a minimum
pace for this course. The Probability Module
and Statistics Module must be completed
(including tests taken) by April 7 (all quizzes
must be completed by April 2).

pace for this course. Finally, the Finance
Module and Geometry Module must have all
quizzes completed by Friday, April 30, all
homework assignments completed by
Tuesday, May 4, and tests (if taken in the
testing center) must be completed by
Tuesday, May 4.

Benchmark deadlines: In order to meet

academic status reports, there is a minimum
pace for this course. If the final two exams
have not been completed by Tuesday, May 4,
then they must be taken during the
scheduled final exam period.
You are free to go at a faster pace than
the minimum pace.
