SAGE Curriculum Night
 The
special abilities of the gifted and
talented require programs that provide
opportunities to develop abstract thinking,
to sharpen higher cognitive processing, to
practice creative problem solving, and to
increase methods and styles of inquiry.
With the use of the Arizona College and Career
Readiness standards the look of math has
changed.
 Students will be asked to focus on fewer
concepts but seek greater depth and
understanding of the processes behind the
concept.
 We will always be asking:

Why?
Can you prove it?
 What does it mean?
 What is it related to?


A selection of novels revolving around racism and bias.
Students will read 4 novels independently.
 This,
often, is the are where students seem
to overwhelm themselves. I remind them
regularly that this is an accelerated program
and that learning is achieved through the
willingness to learn from the mistakes we
make.
 It is okay if they do not earn an “A”.
 I ask that you encourage your students to do
their best, ask questions, and seek out help.
 Put less stress on the grade and more stress
on the effort!
