What is COMMUNICATION?
• The accurate transfer of information from a
sender to a receiver
• Communication is the process of sharing
our ideas, thoughts, and feelings with
other people and having those ideas,
thoughts, and feelings understood by the
people we are talking with.
• When we communicate, we speak, listen,
and observe
• Over 80% of our waking lives is spent
sending and receiving information!
• What are some of the ways that you do
this?
• Effective communication depends on the
accurate transmission of a message
• What are some barriers to accurate
transmission?
• How have you had a communication
problem or failure to communicate?
• Was there a miscommunication because
of lack of understanding?

knowing if meaning has been shared
