Give the situation as of now, including key information
such as patient’s age and gender, and current status
“The situation is that Mr Whye is a 76 year old man,
who has just presented with ongoing haematemesis
and melaena. He has fluids, pantoprazole and
octreotide started and we have sent blood for Xmatching but he has just had further fresh
haematemesis…”

• “ By way of background Mr Whye has risk factors for
both varices and ulcer disease as he is on aspirin for
