A. Pros and cons of social media tools
for creating an online learning
community focused on intercultural
communication.
Pros of Social Media Tools
• No time barriers
• No distance barriers
• User Friendly
- Blog & Facebook – post then comments
• Blackboard – small intimate groups
Cons of Social Media Tools

Facebook
Discussion Board
Blogs

A general con to social media tools for creating an online learning
community that was to be focused on intercultural communication is that
we did not have any communication between the Chinese students.
The first meeting that we had that was face-to-face went so much better. I
believe that if more meetings were required face-to-face that each of the
groups would have gotten more out of the project.

B. Discussion of e-learning skills that
were learned or refined as a result of

technologies
E-Learning Skills
We found that the following skills were either
learned or refined by the study:
•Ease of use with Discussion Threads
•Ease of use with Blogs
•Social Etiquette in a Learning Environment
•Inquisition
•Verbalization of Thoughts and Ideas
C. Successes and challenges that your
