 Using the media to appeal to the American

 Symbol of the United States
 Represents the United States at special
occasions and ceremonies
 Meets with leaders of other
countries
 Delivers speeches and represents
U.S. at ceremonies.

to keep peace within our borders.
• In charge of all United States military
THE WAR POWERS RESOLUTION/ACT
 1973
 May send military troops out of the country
without Congress’ approval for 60 days, but
must notify Congress within 48hrs.
 Limits the President's authority to declare
war.
 Requires the president to notify Congress
immediately after troops are sent into battle

