war occurred on April 12th 1861 and it
lasted all of four years. Ended on April 9th
1865.

Sumter- first battle April 12
 First battle of Bull run- July 21 1861
 Battle of Gettysburg- July 1st 1863
 2nd battle of Fort Fisher
 Battle of Appomattox court house
 The
union states-north
Ex. New York
 Border states- Kentucky, Missouri, Maryland,
Delaware, west Virginia.
 The confederate states- south
Ex. North Carolina
Americans vs. Americans
 States
in the union are Oregon, California,
Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, Wisconsin, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey,
Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode island,
Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine.
 Union consists of northern states
 Abraham Lincoln was with the union.
 Texas,
Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi,
Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, south
Carolina, north Carolina.
 A Leader was Jefferson Davis.
 ALLIANES- Britain and France they were with
the confederacy.

 And of course Abraham Lincoln

in Lancaster Ohio on February 8 1820

 Retires from army
 Dies of pneumonia at age 71
 July 4th 1863 promoted to brigade General
 July 21 1861 commanded his first battle of
bull run.
 Later he was suspected of insanity

 All were leaders of the confederation
 Born
in Kentucky on June 3 1808
 Married Varian Howell on Feb 26 1845
 Begins service in the army
 Married Sarah Taylor on June 17 1838(1853)
 Began to serve as a U.S secretary of war
 Saber-
this was used through the whole
civil war. They were super dangerous.
This was a sharp sword that the soldiers
used.
 Muskets- considered a small arm because
it could be carried by hand. Smooth long
barreled shoulder arm.
 Napoleon- used in 1857 it was 12ib
weapon. Smooth muzzle loading
 Minnie ball- used in 1848 half inch riffle
bullet.
 The
civil war affect us in many ways
 President Lincoln was assonated because of
it.
 less slavery now because of the civil war
 Many men died fighting and the worst part
was it was Americans vs. Americans.

northern/southern states and places
like Virginia.
 The civil war started because the states
wanted secession and also some people think
its because they wanted to get rid of slavery.

9th 1865
 Grant offered a surrender and the war ended
in Appomattox county.

 The north won because of a surrender
 Clara
Barton tended to wounded soldiers in
the civil war and was considered an angel to
those hungry and wounded soldiers. She kept
everything nice and organized and sanitary!

 She resigned in 1904 before she died in 1912
 After
the civil war president Abraham Lincoln
was shot and assassinated by a man that was
upset the north had won.
 Slaves were free and slavery was abolished
 April 18 effectively ends the Civil War.
