 Nucleus-
control center for all activity.
 Nucleoplasm- contains chromosomes and
DNA.
 Nucleolus- contains RNA.
 Cell membrane- separates the cell from
other cells and allows molecules to pass
through.
 Cell wall- protects and supports the cell.
(Plant cells only)
 Cyto
Plasm- contains organelles.
 Vacuoles- storage areas for food, minerals,
and waste.
 Mitochondria- releases energy for functions.
 Chloro Plasts- contains chlorophyll used for
photosynthesis. (Plant cells only)
 Ribosome- helps make proteins.
 Endo
Plasmic Reticulum- connects nuclear
membrane to the cell membrane and is a
passage way for things passing through the
cell.
 Golgi Bodies- help package protein.
 Lysosomes- “suicide sac” structures that
contain enzymes in digestion. If one were to
burst, it could destroy the cell.
 Osmosis
is the net movement of water
across a selectively permeable membrane
driven by a difference in solute
concentrations on the two sides of the
membrane.
