in China in 2006.

In 2005, total number of marine science and technology
achievements is 1306, of which 488 patents, 4949 academic
papers, 68 Science and Technology Progress Awards at the
province and ministry level. There are two achievements
awarded by the central government.

During the 21st Antarctic Expedition, the
scientists reached Antarctic Dome A for
the first time.
The first cruise for global ocean expedition across three
oceans was carried out by China in 2005.
China firstly carried

breaking the zero
record of deep sea
scientific drilling in
the China Seas.
