• Since 2000, the number of foreign tertiary students enrolled
worldwide increased by 77%.
• In 2009, almost 3.7 million tertiary students were enrolled
outside their country of citizenship.
• European countries still lead the preferences in absolute
numbers with a share of 38% followed by North America
(23%).
