‘Trust No Fox And
No Jew’
Tasks
Trust no fox on his Green Heath
And No Jew on his Oath
by Elwira Bauer
The Cover
Tasks
The Father of the
Jews is the Devil
At the creation of the world
The Lord God conceived the races:
Red Indians, Negroes and Chinese,
And Jew-boys too, the rotten crew.
And, we were also on the scene:
We Germans midst this motley medleyHe gave them all a piece of earth
To fill in the sweat of their brow.
Tasks
Page 3
But the Germans — they stand
foursquare.
Look, children, and the two compare,
The German and the Jew.
Take a good look at the two
In the picture drawn for you.
A joke — you think it is only that?
Tasks
The Eternal Jew
From the start the Jew has been
A murderer, said Jesus Christ.
And as Our Lord died on the cross
God the Father knew no other race
To torment His Son to death,
He chose the Jews for this.
Tasks
Jewish Names
So that the Jew you shan’t recognize
His name turns up in other guise.
Herr Nathan calls himself Jonathan,
While Levin becomes Levinson.
Abraham loses two of his “a’s’
And now his name reads simply
Brahm--
Tasks
Once a Jew,
always a Jew
Now children, on the other page
The Jew you’ll see. Can you believe
Since baptism he’s really changed
Five pails of water o’er his head
Makes no changes in his heart.
One thing always keep in view,
Once a Jew, always a Jew!!
Tasks
The Cattle Jew
Most revolting in a Jew
Is his peculiar greed for gold.
Always with him is first in mind
By hook or crook a deal to find.
Tasks
The Sabbath
Jew Ikey comes on Friday home.
A perfect gentleman he seems;
A week of swindling stupid “goys”
And telling lies bring Sabbath joys.
Tasks
Page 9
Folks, look at this rare twister, too.
It is old Aaron Kahn, the Jew.
Owner of a store is he.
And all his precious merchandise
Is sold by means of rotten lies.
Tasks
Page 10
Here Isaac Blumenfeld we see;
As butcher he makes good money.
But take a closer look, look closely,
A rogue this Yid is mostly.
Isaac sells you meat ‘Tis said,
But he gives you filth instead.
Tasks
The Jewish Lawyer
Only when there was nothing left
Did, strangely enough, the trial end.
The farmer, true, had won the case;
Now he wonders with long face
Who his goods and money took.
They were stolen all by the Jewish
crook.
Tasks
Servant Girl
She finds a post with Katz, the Jew.
Three bouncing daughters has this Yid;
His wife, Oh My! is sure no kid.
All four are idle lazybones,
Doing nothing all day long.
Tasks
Page 13
Compare him with this German Frau.
He cuts a pitiable figure now!
I would the Jew had sense to own
He’d best leave German girls alone.
Try his own “kalle” instead.
Tasks
Page 14
A dachshund is never put between the
shafts
Of a wagon where a cow belongs!
That’s just impossible, I say.
So mark my words for once and all:
‘Don’t trust a fox on the greensward
And never a Jew on his plighted word!’”
Tasks
The Jewish Doctor
Thus Dr. Wehdir makes sure as well
That one more Jew is saved from Hell.
If on “goys” twas tried at first
For Christians that is none the worse.
This is the moral of this story true:
Never trust Jewish Doctors, You!
Tasks
Page 16
The Jews in turn he’s taught a lesson,
The value of a healthy folk.
He’s let them feel the German spirit
Twixt Jew and us he’s shown the
difference.
That is Streicher!!
Tasks
Page 17
He’s had the great “Stuermer” printed;
That’s why all Jews detest our
Streicher.
My, don’t they make an uproar!
To Streicher it is all the same.
He’s fought his way for many a year.
All round the world he is renowned.
Tasks
Page 18
“We do not buy from Jewish shops!”
Says the mother to the child.
“ ‘Tis only German goods we buy;
Remember that, my darling.”
German firms should only buy
What’s been made by German hands,
By German industry and strength.
Tasks
Page 19
It’s going to be fine in the schools at
last,
For all the Jews must leave.
For big and small it’s all alike.
Anger and hats do not avail
Nor utmost Jewish whine or wail.
Away with all the Jewish breed.
Tasks
Page 20
As on this picture may be seen
A notice-board is erected here,
Telling for all the world to know
Here Jews are hardly popular.
The German is the owner here,
So, friend Yid, best disappear!
Tasks
The Führer’s Youth
They love their German Führer
And God in Heaven they fear.
But the Jews they must despise!
They’re not like these boys,
So Jews must just give way!
Tasks
Page 22
In far-off South is the country
Which cradled Jewish ancestry.
Let them go back there with wife and
child
As quickly as they came! —
What a disgusting picture
Is shown by these Jews, so dirty and
wild.
(On the signpost: “One way road.
Hurry, Hurry.
The Jews are our misfortune.”)

What was Nazi
Propaganda?
What were Nazi ideas
about racism and the
treatment of
minorities?
Tasks
What was Nazi
Propaganda?
• What is propaganda? Propaganda is the use of the media to aggressively
promote one point of view.
• Propaganda is ‘brainwashing’ of the public, convincing them of an ideological
viewpoint.
• The Nazis quickly realised the value of the media. From the early days of the
party, they used aggressive advertising to promote the Nazi ideology.
• Goebbels was in charge of ‘enlightening’ the German public
• Methods: posters, radio, film, newspapers
• Posters: Posters are cheap and easy to distribute. Placed in prominent
positions, they act as a constant reminder of ideology.
• Radio: Hitler is considered to have been one of the greatest public speakers of
all time.
• Film: Films were used to show Hitler in a positive light.
• Newspapers: Nazi member wrote many positive articles for the press, and the
Nazis banned rival newspapers.
Tasks
Racism and the
Treatment of
Minorities
• The Nazis wanted to create a pure German race.
• They talked about the supremacy of Aryans – according to the Nazis, the
Aryans were the ‘original’ Germans.
• This was nonsense, but it gave some sort of scientific backing to the attacks
the Nazis made on other racial groups.
• They claimed that Jews and others had polluted the blood of Germans and,
therefore, had to be eliminated.
• Many Jews had fought in the German army during the First World War and so
were loyal Germans. However, Hitler was taking advantage of the extreme
prejudice that had existed against Jews for nearly 2000 years by using them as a
scapegoat.

Tasks
Remember when making a PowerPoint show that there are a few things you should do
and some other things you should avoid
Do…
Don't…
…use just a few words so that the
PowerPoint slide is not ‘crowded’.
… copy and paste words from
anywhere else. Any words should
be written by you.
…use bullet points to present your
information clearly.
… spend so much time on
animating your PowerPoint show
that you forget that it’s supposed to
be about the History and not the ICT
skills.
…make sure your background does
not ‘drown out’ the words.
…save each slide separately or you
won’t be able to play the whole
show together.

•
What You Have
To Do
This task is about working things out from evidence.
• The evidence is from Nazi propaganda – in children’s books and pictures. Propaganda
means using the media to get your point of view across.
•Your task is to pick out and explain the messages in the propaganda.
• By the end of this task, you will have made a PowerPoint show of at least four slides in
which you explain what you think the aims of Nazi propaganda were.
• Look at the pictures from the Nazi story books (Trust No Fox And No Jew and The
Poisonous Mushroom) - then look at the Nazi posters.
• Open a new PowerPoint presentation. Title: What were the aims of Nazi propaganda?
• Copy and paste a picture or pictures from the story books and posters into a
PowerPoint slide.
• Work out what you think the ideas or messages behind the pictures are – think about
the people who were expected to see these pictures and why the pictures were made.
Next to the pictures write words explaining them.
• Try to compare the propaganda messages in the pictures. Check the written sources if
you want more background information. Make a slide show of your ideas

about evidence skills
• Instead of just describing what you see in the pictures, the idea is to give your idea
about what the picture means and then back it up by mentioning things from the picture.
• You get extra marks if you are able to compare the messages in different pictures

Tasks
What were the aims of World War I
propaganda posters?
• The aim of the poster is to get people to hate the
Germans
• You can see that the gorilla is German because he is
wearing a German helmet with German writing on the
helmet and the club
• The key words in the poster are destroy and enlist
because the message is to hate German so much that you
will want to join the army and kill them.
• The poster was probably aimed at Americans because
the gorilla is seen marching from Europe to America
• According to the poster, American women are in danger
of being attacked by the German brute.
Tasks
• In some ways, the message of the poster is
similar to that of the ‘Destroy This Mad Brute’ poster
because both posters are trying to get people to join
the army.
• Both posters emphasise the part played by
women.
• But in other ways, the posters are different. In this
poster, the message is about loving your country
and doing what the women in your family would
want you to do.
• In the Destroy This Mad Brute poster, however,
the message is that women are in such danger that
they might be attacked or raped.
• So whilst one poster is about hating the enemy
and the other poster is about loving your country,
they are both about protecting women.
