Lack of sleep
You cannot get to sleep because
you are worrying about something
or you wake up in the middle of
the night thinking about your
problem. You are then tired,
irritable and will find it hard to
concentrate.
Heart Attacks
This can happen as a result of
high blood pressure. This could
have been brought on by a
stressful job which demands a
lot of your energy and time and
has been making you feel
stressed for a while.
Headaches
Feeling tense and stressed can
lead to headaches which can
develop into migraines. This
could be caused because of lack
of sleep or because you are
under a lot of pressure or
because you are over-thinking
something.
Exhaustion
Stress can make you feel tired
and run down. You feel like you
have no energy and this can
lead to depression as well as
picking up lots of illnesses as
you immune system is low.
Nausea
Stressful situations can make
your stomach turn and make you
feel like you’re going to be sick.
This could happen if you are under
pressure in an exam or if you have
been worrying about something.
Diarrhoea
Stress can bring on diarrhoea
in some people. This is when
they are panicking so much
that they are unable to control
their bowel movements.

You now have 3 lots of your
own information:
Causes of stress
Effects of stress
Reducing and avoiding stress
TASK:
1. Using the information you have gathered, create a
play
story, comic or role
to teach primary school children about the causes, effects and
prevention of stress.
FOR EXAMPLE:
“A story about Amanda who is stressed about her exams and
could not sleep. Therefore she spoke to her teacher about it
and now she relaxes before bed, makes time for friends on a
Sunday and walks the dog for exercise between revision.”
