anatomy/physiology
notes chapter 1 #1(anatomical
terms), #2(homeostasis)
Bellringer 1-8-10
An example of positive feedback is:
a. temperature regulation
b. control of blood glucose
c. water balance
d. blood clotting
SCSh8. Students will understand important
features of the process of scientific inquiry.
f. Science disciplines and traditions differ from
one another in what is studied,
techniques used, and outcomes sought.
SCSh9. Students will enhance reading in all
curriculum areas by:
a. Reading in all curriculum areas
• Read a minimum of 25 grade-level appropriate
books per year from a variety of subject
disciplines and participate in discussions
related to curricular learning in all areas.
SAP1. Students will analyze anatomical structures
in relationship to their physiological functions.
a. Apply correct terminology when explaining the
orientation of body parts and regions.
b. Investigate the interdependence of the various
body systems to each other and to the body as a
whole.
c. Explain the role of homeostasis and its
mechanisms as these relate to the body as a
whole and predict the consequences of the
failure to maintain homeostasis.
Essential questions
• How do we describe the locations on the
human body?
• Why is each body system important to the
survival of our body and our species?
• Why do people get sick or die?
agenda

Which is the most complex?
homeostasis
1. Where does homeostasis occur?
2. What happens when homeostasis fails?
3. What is the difference between positive and
negative feedback?

Organ system Table and presentation
Goals-To create a reference table for reviewing the
major functions, parts, and diseases of the 11 main
body systems; to prepare a mini-poster and use this
poster to present an assigned system.
Required: major functions, parts(organs), 2-3 diseases
related to system
Conditions: work in quads; each individual must
construct their own table; each group will prepare a
short review of an assigned system using the
document projector.
Time: Rest of block and tonight
References: your book and the Internet
closing
• How are the dorsal and ventral cavities
similar?different?
• What organs are in the epigastric region?
Homework
• Review your notes
• Answer p. 27 critical thinking-1-7;
• Read and take notes on lifespan changes p
19,21
• Make flash cards for the first column of terms
on p. 24; learn these terms
