Why should we use
synonyms?
Synonyms can be used instead of
common words
Common words can lack power in our
writing. They can make our writing
boring if you use the same word a
second time.
By choosing more unusual words a
text can become interesting.
Take time to consider more than one
synonym. They have different shades of
meaning, different effects, different
contexts.
nice
How many words can you think of for nice?

replace it with a synonym:
It was a nice day so we went with some
nice friends to a nice town next to the
sea. We took a nice picnic which we
had sitting on the nice beach. We
paddled in the sea which was nice. On
the way home we stopped off for some
nice fish and chips. All in all it was a
nice day that left me with a lot of nice
memories.
Using the thesaurus change the
synonyms you used to antonyms:

the sea which was ----. On the way
