Guildenstern in the WAHS Auditorium.

WAHS Academic Competition
Accomplishments 2008 - 09



ACE TEAM: Jefferson District Regular Season and
Tournament Runner-Up, Region II Runner-Up, and
5th place in the State Tournament.
Destination Imagination: A Multi-School Team from
WAHS, AHS, CHS, and MHS placed first in both the
region and the state. This team also placed “10th in
the World.”
The WAHS Team placed 2nd in the region and
received a “Renaissance Award” for teamwork in
the Instant Challenge Competition.

Total number of F’s reduced from 12% to 5%
Total number of A’s and B’s from 39% to 50%
Total number of discipline referrals in
Standard/Practical Classes have gone from 169
(13:1) to 92 (9:1).
Students with IEP’s Passed 10 of the 11 SOL EOC
Standards and lead the county in 7 of the 11
measures.

WAHS is one of only 66 high schools in the
Commonwealth to receive this recognition.
WAHS met all state and federal achievement
benchmarks for at least two consecutive years.
The Virginia Index of Performance (VIP Award) also
recognizes achievement in enrollment in collegelevel classes, attainment of advanced diplomas,
career and industry certifications, and the nutrition
and physical activity scorecard.
