CELLS EXPLORATION
You will navigate through your
textbook and this webquest to
complete the graphic organizers on
cells.
HINT: Use the down/up arrows to
move from page to page and click on
underlined weblinks to take you to the
appropriate websites.
The Process
You will work alone or with a
partner (your teacher will
assign partners if
necessary). All researchers
must complete a packet.
Introduction
Cells are awesome little things! Every living
thing is made up of one or more cells. Well,
what the heck are they? We know they are
small, and there are lots of different
kinds. In fact, you need a microscope just to
see them. In your body alone, there are
trillions of cells! Cells grow and develop,
reproduce, use energy, have DNA, and
respond to their surroundings. Wow! Pretty
impressive! Let's take a look at all the
organelles that make up the cell!
The Virtual Cell
Cells have many parts or organelles.
In your packet, complete the graphic
organizer on cell organelles using your
book & the websites. Start with
Virtual Cell & Cells Alive. You can (and
should) click on the organelles to get
more information on each. Use the
dark blue arrows on the left to read
all the information on each organelle.
Plant vs. Animal Venn Diagram
Update your pictures & complete the
Venn Diagram in your packet to
describe which organelles belong only
to plant cells, which organelles belong
only to animal cells, and which
organelles belong to both. Use 3 D
Animation to help you with this
information. Make sure you launch
the animation to see the 3D cells.
Just for Fun!
• If you finish with time to spare,
here are few fun sites to visit:
• Cell Puzzles
• How Big Are Cells?
• Bacteria Cell Model
Cell Project
• Once you have completed the
Cells WebQuest, please turn
in the packet to your teacher.
At that time, your teacher will
give you the Cell Project Info
