School Climate Model
Keigwin Middle School
Effective Behavioral Support
This is a model in which students are taught the
expected behavior that has been determined by
the school
 Students learn to recognize expected behaviors
for every area of the school building (hallways,
bus, classroom, cafeteria, etc.)
 Students learn the main principles of ROCKS
 (ROCKS matrix)

Referral Process
Students are made aware of the ROCKS
principle that they have not followed.
 A level system is used to sort behaviors and
consequences
 Expected behaviors are reinforced
 (Discipline plan sheet)


Students identified by number of referrals and
team concerns, academic and behavioral
Parents, student, administrator and teaching team
meet to discuss plan
Plan developed to set goals for improvement
Teachers and student monitor goals each period
Staff member checks point sheet AM and PM
Incentives (ROCKS card) earned for reaching goal
