Three different types of Rocks
Igneous Rocks form when lava
or magma inside volcanoes
cools down.
Sedimentary Rocks form when
eroded minerals is brought
together in rivers or oceans.
Metamorphic Rocks form when
heat and pressure squish
together different minerals
The Rock Cycle
Rocks change
from one form
to another
over time.
That’s why we
call it the
“Rock cycle.”
Let’s make
rocks from
chocolate
chips!
Instructions
1) Name your minerals.
2) Use a grater or knife to erode your minerals
and form sedimentary rock.
3) Place your sedimentary rock into a plastic bag
and apply pressure and warmth to form
metamorphic rock.
4) Use the hotplate to melt your metamorphic
rock and then cool it to form igneous rock.
Make sure to fill out your worksheet after
each step!
