Comprehensive Area Assessment
•
Camden achieved a Level 4 for Use of Natural Resources (UoNR), a significant factor in
achieving an overall Level 4 for Use of Resources
•
Only 4 other LAs out of 150 in England achieved a Level 4 for UoNR (Islington, Kirklees,
Sutton and Middlesborough)
•
28 LAs achieved green flags for sustainability, of these, 18 were for environmental
sustainability
Of the 18 for their use of UoNR, 9 LAs scored a 2, 6 LAs scored a 3, and 3 LAs scored a 4
•
3 LAs achieved both
5 LAs achieved a Level 4 for their
Use of Natural Resources (UoNR)
18 LAs achieved a Green
Flag for environmental
sustainability
Camden’s approach to natural UoR reporting
• Set the scene – problems & issues caused by
being an inner London borough.
• Highlight innovation.
• Overcoming barriers.
• Sustainable travel, CO2 reduction progress,
community leadership, our own estate, housing,
schools, waste and recycling, air quality,
procurement, green open space.
Use of resources
• Feedback highlighted:
- how Camden and its partners are striving to reduce carbon
emissions through initiatives, such as the Camden Climate
Change Alliance and the Small steps, big difference’
campaign
- decrease in energy use across the council’s own estate and
operations
- reduction of traffic with increase in walking, cycling and carclub provision

estate and operations
• Carbon Reduction Commitment
