Photostory 3
A welcome screen will appear. Click on “Begin a New
Story” and NEXT at the bottom right of the window.
The Import and Arrange screen is where you choose the
pictures you want to use in the Story. Click “Import Pictures.”
A File Browser window will appear. This is where you find
the location of your pictures.
You can click on the first picture you want to import and scroll
down to the last picture and press the Shift key and click and
it will select all of those pictures. Click OK to import all of
them at one time. You can also choose pictures at different
times and from different folders.
Note: You can
import up to 300
pictures.
Your pictures import onto a timeline. You can change the order
by using the arrows on the right or by dragging and dropping
them to the location you would like.
Before clicking NEXT, you have the option to get rid of
black lines around the pictures or edit the photos.
Note: You
can Save
your
project at
any time
by clicking
the Save
Project
button at
the bottom
of the
screen!
After you click NEXT, you come to the Add a title to your pictures
window. You have an option to add text to any of the pictures by
clicking on the picture and typing in the text. You can choose
color, font, and location of the text. When you have added text
to all pictures you wish to add text to, click NEXT.
At the Narrate your pictures and customize motion screen, you
can add narration, zoom and pan and set the timing on each
picture.
After attaching a
microphone, select the
photo from the timeline
that you want to narrate
and click on the red dot to
begin or stop recording.
You can also add notes in
the text area.
If you make a mistake or
don’t like the way it
sounds, click on the back
arrow button to erase the
narration and start again.
You can preview the
narration by clicking on
the Preview button.
Below any selected
picture, click on
Customize Motion
In the Customize Motion Screen you can click specify start
and end position of motion and set zoom and pan features
of the program. You can also choose to set the duration
automatically (based on narration, etc.) or set the number
of seconds to display the picture.
You can click
Preview to see
how your picture
will look.
You can also click
the Transition Tab
to set transitions
from picture to
picture.
Transitions determine how the video will move from one picture
to the next. Pictures transition automatically unless you wish to
set a specific option. Transitions preview at the top of the
screen but can also be previewed in a separate window. When
you are finished, click Close to return to the previous window.
Scroll to
view all
available
transitions.
When you
have finished
with all
narration and
customization,
click NEXT.
Now you see the Add background music screen. You have the
option to select music you have on your computer, perhaps
downloaded and saved from www.freeplaymusic.com, or from a
CD (non copyright violation). You can preview here as well.
You can set
the volume
of the
background
music on
this screen.
You might
want the
music in the
background
softer if you
have
narration.
Click on select music to go to a CD or folder
where you have audio files.
To create music, you can select genre, band, mood, tempo and
intensity.
When music is selected it appears above the pictures on
the timeline. You can click on different pictures and
change the music to suit a series of pictures. Note the
changes in music between pictures 5 and 6 and 7 and 8 and
the volume adjustment.
Note:
Background
volume must be
adjusted for
each different
track inserted.
The next step is saving the finished product.
• Save your story for playback on your computer.
• Specify where you want to save the movie as well as the
name. You can choose to browse for the location. If
you leave it at the default it will save to My Documents,
My Videos.
• Click Next. It will take a while to combine, narration and
text and pictures depending on the number of pictures.
The final step – Completing PhotoStory 3 for Windows –
gives you the option to view your story or create another
story. At this point you want to play your story. When it
plays through completely, you will find a Window Media
Video (.wmv) copy of the video located in My Documents,
My Videos unless you changed the default. This file can be
played on any computer with a Windows Media Player.
Note: The original PhotoStory
file, the Project, cannot be
played by someone unless they
have the program. You can go
back and edit it at anytime,
replay it and have a corrected
video.
