1. Anabolic steroids were developed in the
1930’s to treat rare diseases in males
(low testosterone levels).
2. Steroids were also used to treat certain
types of anemia and kidney problems.
3. They are also helpful in treating severe
burns and some types of breast cancer.
4. There are still side effects using any
type of steroids.
5. Doctors prescribe the lowest dose
possible that helps patients.
6. The dose to build muscle for
athletes are much higher than
needed for regular medical patients.
