Stop play
Ask what happened
Look at injury before touching
DEALING WITH AN INJURY
Touch only after looking
Active movement ask can they move
injured part
Passive Movement assist the person
to move the injured part
Stand the injured person only if the
injury is not severe
DEALING WITH AN INJURY
The principles of P.R.I.C.E.
protection - moving,crutches,splints.
rest - immediate rest
ice - 20 - 30 mins every 2 hours
for large muscle bulk.
No more than 10 mins -( joints)
DEALING WITH AN INJURY
compression - ( elastic bandage )
not whilst limb is elevated.
elevation - above next joint
combine with gentle movement &
stretching
AFTER CARE
•REHABILITATION
•Active movement of the injured limb should
be sought within the individuals pain
threshold as soon as possible.
•Scar tissue from fibrin repairs need to be
stretched in the same direction as the
muscle / ligament tissue to make a stronger
repair.
