Effective Classroom/Immersion Learning
“Learning in Motion”
Pre-training Activity #1
Ask target audience to work together in small collaborative learning teams
and describe immersion learning experiences, to describe what effective
learning experiences look like, as well as effective classrooms. Include visual
components. Pre-training activity should take 30 minutes to an hour.
(Feedback for pre-training activity will be done through email to small learning
teams, feedback should encourage and support learning, teachable
moments)
Text/Audio Narration: Background music should include soothing instrumentals such as Mozart, Bach, or Beethoven. Celtic
music can also provide soothing background music that is contusive to the learning environment. Pictures should include
immersion learning occurring, such as students using imaginative play on the playground, healing gardens which also provide
immersion learning opportunities where students also become better global citizens, or at swamp/forest that is native to region.

demonstrates the immersion learning experiences. Power Point presentation
or audio presentation should take approximately one hour. (Feedback for pretraining activity will be done through email to individuals, feedback should
encourage and support learning, teachable moments)

“Learning in Motion”
Target Audience: This presentation is designed to be presented as a
informational session to adult learners, possibly high school students. The
information could be simplified greatly to be presented to younger age group
for target audience.

Effective Classroom: Theories and development within the classroom firmly
holds true that there is no one theory that can be valued above another but
that the compilation of all the theories help to provide careful insight into how
development occurs for each individual student. The term development,
defined is how individuals learn, grow, adapt and change over the course of a
lifetime (Wiki, 2011).
Target Audience
This presentation is
designed to be
presented as a
informational
session to adult
learners, possibly
high school
students. The
information could be
simplified greatly to
be presented to
younger age group
for target audience.
The vision of the student is to provide a learning environment that assists in
the development and growth of all children. The role of the teacher is one that
allows for creative, hands on learning that fosters learning and supports the
learning material. Through positive reinforcement and interaction challenging
behaviors can be extinguish. The goal is to use positive praise; tangible
rewards; background music in the classroom; and through the
implementation of other various positive reinforcements there can be a
noticeable decrease in the frequency and intensity of challenging behaviors.
By decreasing the intensity and frequency of challenging behaviors there can
be more time spent in the classroom on social and academic skills.

Decreasing the likelihood and occurrence of challenging behaviors will also
improve overall classroom moral and productivity resulting in a change in
learning environment and structure. Studies show that in using background
music with a positive feedback can also increase productivity and moral in the
classroom. Other various ideas that have shown to have a positive impact in
the classroom is time spent allowing for imaginative play as well as
classroom ownership.
This teacher grew up in New
England and was able to
participate in natures classroom,
what a positive enriching learning
experience.

Imaginative Play/ Healing Gardens and Global Citizens:
Worked example: Teachers and students when given the opportunity to learn
in a creative manner experience a variety of positive outcomes including
being able to recall the information for future experiences and learning.
Students and teachers when learning in this manner are more relaxed and far
more likely to actively participate in the learning and interactions.
The vision of the student is to provide a learning environment that assists in
the development and growth of all students.
The role of the teacher is one that allows for creative, hands on learning that
fosters learning and supports the learning material. There are many skills that
a teacher can incorporate to positive reinforcement of learning and classroom
boundaries. Teachers can establish procedures and rules in which students
can clearly understand the expectations. Teachers should encourage
students to communicate with both the teacher and with each other, through
working cooperatively and individually. Worked example: Students who are
allowed to experience the value for
animals not only appreciate the learning
material but become aware of the value
of animals in nature and thus becoming a
better global citizen

Imaginative Play/ Healing Gardens and Global Citizens:
Students should be provided opportunities in all
Learning environments that are engaging and
Support learning have a variety of aspects
that allow the student learners to feel, explore,
engage and learn from the environment.
In art activities, students should be given a
variety of tools that help them see, feel, touch,
hear and explore learning. In regards to
traditional assessment methods their can
be a variety of factors that can bias the testing
material and this is why exploration to ensure
that the methods that demonstrate learning
achievement should be continually improved.
Worked example:
Students who are allowed
to experience the value for
eco-systems not only
appreciate the learning
material but become
aware of the value of the
system.

Imaginative Play/ Healing Gardens and Global Citizens:
At Nature’s Classroom you will find: 700 acres of forest, pond, meadow, river, and bog communities are
a living laboratory where students and teachers discover the wonders of ecology and geology that
simply can’t be found in books.
Benefits as a Teacher: discover what natures classroom sets other programs apart. It’s not just
students who benefit from learning at Nature’s Classroom. School Program also provides teachers with
a framework that enhances future lessons in the classroom. This includes opportunities to: • Observe
students in the outdoor classroom • Assess social, emotional, and academic growth • Participate in
professional development activities.

What effective classroom’s can demonstrate, teach and reinforce to the
students. Nature’s classroom works in the following areas: teamwork
reinforces trust and self confidence, fosters community, and enhances the
learning experience. Nature’s Classroom School Program adventure activities
enable students to work together in groups, developing skills in problemsolving, goal setting, decision-making, and positive risk-taking.

Teachers and students when given the opportunity to experience these types of learning experiences such as the ones demonstrated in
Nature’s Classroom, develop a deeper appreciation for one another as citizens and also gain an understanding of immersion learning and
the chain reaction that can be set in motion when students learn how to depend on each other, learn with each other and grow with each
other. One of the most instrumental learning experiences I had as a student. Immersion learning at its best.
