Careful reading of the novels is imperative
Spark notes do not replace reading the text. They
may help in understanding the themes, motifs,
symbols, etc. of a text.
Your child’s cell phone is a
distraction!!!!!!
It prevents them from focusing
on their assignments.
How to Read a Novel
Carefully—paying attention—not listening to
music with lyrics, while watching TV, or using
social media
Closely—annotating—making
notes
about
words, themes, symbol, and questions while
reading
This process cannot be rushed or accomplished
in one sitting.

A yellow, green, or orange highlighter
In order to stay organized and thus successful,
students must bring their materials everyday.
Most books can be borrowed from an
upperclassman or purchased used or new from
Amazon.

