You can use the Distributive Property to solve
some multiplication problems mentally.

Properties of Addition and Multiplication
Commutative Property The order in which numbers
are added or multiplied does not change the sum or
product.
Ex.
4 + 3 = 3 + 4 or 5 × 4 = 4 × 5
Associative Property The way in which numbers
are grouped when added or multiplied does not
change the sum or product.
Ex. (3 + 4) + 5 = 3 + (4 + 5) or (2 × 3) × 4 = 2 × (3 × 4)
Properties of Addition and Multiplication
Additive Identity The sum of any number
and 0 is the number.
Ex. 5 + 0 = 5 or a + 0 = a
Multiplicative Identity The product of any
number and 1 is the number.
Ex.
7 × 1 = 7 or a × 1 = a
