evaluate each step.

Rewrite each product using the
Distributive Property. Then simplify.
3. 12( y + 3)
4. 4( y2 + 8y +2)
Definitions
• Term- A number, variable, or a product or a quotient of
numbers and variables.
• Like terms- Terms that contain the same variables, with
corresponding variables having the same power.
• Equivalent Expressions- when two expressions denote the
same number.
Ex. 5n + 7n = 12n
• Simplest Form- An expression that has been replaced by an
equivalent expression having no like terms or parenthesis.
Simplify each expression.
