composers include Scott Joplin, Jelly
Roll Morton, and Eubie Blake.

• The Bamileke people have many traditions of
using rhythm in their music.
• They use music to accompany their Lali or
warrior dance.
• The dances celebrate ability and skill in battle,
self confidence and manliness.
• They are performed by the Menne people, a sub
group of the Bamileke people.
