Measure ozone
concentration as it
relates to temperature
from ground level to
approximately 100,000
ft. above sea level.
Using this data,
calculate the UV ray
concentration in the
atmosphere

Acts as a variable resistor. Resistance around 1.2KΩ
Resistance increases with increasing exposure to
oxidizing gases, namely ozone and NO2
Resistance increases linearly from 0-2.4 ppm ozone at
approximately 105Ω per 1 ppm. Resistance increases
linearly from 2.4 to 10.5 ppm ozone at approximately
12Ω per 1 ppm.
The thermistor works as a variable resistor.
Has a negative temperature coefficient, meaning
resistance decreases as temperature increases.
Seven 1.5V AA Energizer ultimate
lithium in series to make one SUPER
battery(10.5 V).
3000 mAh capacity.
Must supply 150 mA for 4 hours.
Needs 600 mAh capacity to
accomplish.
BalloonSAT draws 53 mA of current.
Each ITO sensor expected to draw less than 10 mA. There are 8
sensors in total.
Thermistor current is negligible as its impedance is on the order of
100k Ω.
The power supply must supply 9V, otherwise the BalloonSAT will
not operate.
150 mA is planned for. At four hours of operation, 600mAh will
be required.
The power supply voltage will derate to about 90% of its voltage
after 4 hours of 200mAh discharge at -20º.
Three Basic Loops
First loop checks all
sensors and awaits “go”
command.
Second loop cycles
readings from multiple
sensors.
Final loop retains
memory, stops
readings, and continues
to supply power to the
circuit.
