Regular Present Tense Verbs
► Regular
verbs in German follow a
pattern.
► This makes regular verbs very easy
to use.
► You just need to learn which ending
the verb should have with which
pronoun.
Firstly, you need to find
the stem of the verb
Spielen is a regular verb and means play.
To get the stem, you just take the –en off
the end of the verb, like so …
spielen
ich = I
ich spiel e
du = you
du spiel st
er = he
er spiel t
sie = she
sie spiel t
es = it
es spiel t
wir = we
wir spiel en
ihr= y’all
ihr spiel t
sie = they
sie spiel en
Irregular Present Tense Verbs
►Irregular
verbs are only irregular in the
‘du’ and ‘er/sie/es’ forms.
►This is known as the danger zone
because you have to be careful in it.
►There are 3 different dangers you
could face in the danger zone.
The 3 Dangers

Send

irregular verbs add an umlaut in the
danger zone…
fahren = go travel
or
has a
DANGER ZONE
But don’t forget…
For ich, wir and sie,
there is no danger
