We use the Present Progressive to talk
about something which is happening
Example:
We are studying English now.

Examples:
We are going to school now .
Today we are going to school.
1. When the verb ends in a silent e
we drop the e and add ing
Example:

com ing
2. when the verb ends in y
We add ing after the y
Examples:
stud y
stud y ing
pla y
pla y ing
When the last syllable of the verb ends in:
Consonant-Vowel-Consonant (C.V.C)
and is stressed,
we double the last letter and add ing.
Example:
sitting
visit
visiting
We never double the letters – W,
X, Y.
Examples:
Blow- blowing
box- boxing
play- playing
when the verb ends in ie
we change the ie to y and add ing
Example:
tie
