I.
Indirect Objects
• Indirect objects are to whom or for whom the action of the verb is
performed for. (They are usually people & pets.)
• Rules state that if you have an indirect object, you must have an
accompanying Indirect Object Pronoun in front of the conjugated verb
form. (Ex. If you have “A” you must have “B”, if you have “1” you must
have “2”.)
• IDOPs are used when the action is happening to someone other than
the speaker.

2. Pasas el balón a mí.
(Tú) me pasas el balón (a mí).
3. Mandamos la carta a ellos. Les mandamos la carta (a ellos).
4. La mesera sirvió los tostones a ti.
La mesera te sirvió los tostones (a ti).
5. Yo digo la verdad a mi madre.
Yo le digo la verdad ( a mi madre).
6. Muestran el arte a nosotros. Nos muestran el arte (a nosotros).
7. Ella preguntó la hora a mí. Me preguntó la hora (a mí).
8. Recomiendo el jamón a tu madre. Le recomiendo el jamón (a tu madre).
9. Traigo las flores a tu novia. Le traigo las flores (a tu novia).
10. Mandamos el paquete a ustedes. Les mandamos el paquete
(a ustedes).
II. Direct Objects
• Direct Objects …receive the action of the verb. The verb answers the “what or whom”
• Direct Object Pronouns are…me, te, lo/la nos, los/las (me, you, him/her/it, us, them)
• Direct Object Pronouns come before conjugated verb forms (just like the indirect object
pronouns)
• Unlike with Indirect Object Pronouns that accompany the Indirect Object, Direct Object
Pronouns replace the Direct Object—to avoid redundancy.
1. Carlos bebe la leche. Carlos la bebe
2. Yo visito a mis amigas. Yo las visito
3. Él conoce a Felipe y a Carlos.
Él los conoce
4. Yo sé la verdad (truth) . Yo la sé
5. Nosotros aprendemos español.
Nosotros lo aprendemos
III. DOUBLE OBJECT PRONOUNS

Yo se la digo (a mi madre).
6. Muestran el arte a nosotros. Nos lo muestran (a nosotros).
7. Ella preguntó la hora a mí. Me la preguntó a mí.
8. Recomiendo el jamón a tu madre. Se lo recomiendo.
9. Traigo las flores a tu novia. Se las traigo (a tu novia).

VI. Two verbs in a sentence?
1. Ella quiere decir la verdad.
Ella la quiere decir.

Ella quiere decirla.
2. Nosotros preferimos dar regalos. Nosotros los preferimos dar. or Nosotros preferimos darlos
3. Tú/ necesitar dar/ la pelota/ a Juan.
Tú se la necesitas dar
