Art in ancient Greece
Greece was like modern
art. they used
materials such as
clay, limestone,
stone, and marble.
but because the clay
was very brittle
some were easily
destroyed. pottery
was used for
everyday things.
They were used for
trophies and drinking
wine and other
drinkable
substances.
literature in ancient Greece
• the literature that the
Greeks created are rarely
equaled and have never
been surpassed.
• The only comparable
influence is the bible.
• These are the four periods
of literature listed below:
• Pre classical, classical
Hellenistic roman, and
Byzantine.
• At the beginning of Greek
literature or the works of
homer the lliad and the
odyssey
Architecture of ancient
Greece
Ancient Greeks built many
architectural buildings
such as theaters, stadiums,
temples, and palaces.
Also there is the acropolis of
Athens.
This is the acropolis.
The Athenians began to
build this building in 480
bc. it was burned by the
Persians. this building was
built for the Greek
goddess Athena pallas or
parthenos(virgin)
The theater were used for
plays about Greek
mythology
The Philosophy of the ancient
Greeks
• the Greeks educated the
Romans in philosophy and
other things.
• Two of the most influential
philosophers in Greek history.
Plato wrote a couple of dozen
of philosophy Dialogues.
• one school of philosophy is
the eleatics.they were a
school of pre-Socratic
philosophers.
• The school took its name from
elea
• Elea was a Greek city
located in Italy, the home of
Parmenides and zeno.they
used mathematical
standards.
Inventions in Greece
Greeks had many inventions. They are listed below:
Aqueducts, groundwater exploitation, extensive
silver mining, streets, cartography, rut way,
caliper, truss roof, crane, escapement, tumbler
lock, gears, plumbing, crossbow and so on and so
forth. One of their aqueducts are called
eupalinos or eupalinian. The length of this
aqueduct is 3,400 ft long. it is located in
samos,greece. Eupalinos from megara dug a
tunnel into through mount kastro to build an
aqueduct to supply the ancient capital of samos.

the Mycenaean culture began to
be abandoned and destroyed. some
people say that the cause of the
Mycenaean fall and the bronze
age was because environmental
catastrophe and Dorian invasions.
Wars in ancient Greece 2
– the Trojan war: this war was in the
odyssey. It was between troy and
Mycenae. the war lasted ten long
years according to homers odyssey.
The Greeks had the advantage of
winning but they feigned retreat.
They left behind the Trojan horse.
Alexander the great 3
• Alexander the great
was a Greek king of
Macedon. He created
the largest empire in
ancient history. He
received the
education under a
tutor named
Aristotle. He died of
sickness in June 10
323b.c. He had many
successful wars: like
the conquest of the
Persian empire.

One of the most important Greek god is Zeus which
means in Rome Jupiter.
Zeus is the king of gods, he is also the ruler of
mount Olympus.
• His siblings are Poseidon, Hades, Demeter,
hestia and hera.
• He had many children but the most important
children is Athenas. She has no mother. she
busted out of zueses head.
Daily life
• Slavery was the
central feature in
ancient Greek society.
• The Spartans were
taught to be tough and
lived with their mothers
until they were seven.
When a baby Spartan
was born Spartans
would come to their
house and examine them.
If they were healthy it
would be assigned in a
membership of the
brotherhood or
sisterhood.
