Tajikistan: Clay green house
• Principle: Clay wall that stores the heat over
the day and releases it during night. Heat
retention through clay/ solar energy using for
heating.
• Cost of one: 17KUS$ (10K loan and 7K
contribution from farmer)
• Cost recovery: one year (2 seasons JanuaryMay 2011 and December 2011-March 2012 9 months)
• Tonnage collected: 7000kg tomatoes January May 2011
• Green solution for competitiveness

Greenhouse price 5-6TJS per kg

• Aid-for-Trade project supported, but privately

• 5 trained personnel in effective
management and monitoring of
public service contracts for public
transport services and GEBs
• 200 old buses exchanged for new
buses (greener jobs)
• 50 trainees on the operation and
maintenance of new buses and
refueling infrastructure

Croatia: Retrofitting buildings
• UNDP Croatia, Global Environmental
Facility programme on public-sector
energy efficiency
• Results:
– Energy systems in 5900 public buildings refitted
– Energy audits conducted in 1346 public buildings
– $18 million in initial annual public-sector
energy savings
– Annual CO2 emissions reduced by 63,000 tons
– “Energy charter” signed by all 127 municipalities
– 17 new companies, 150 energy efficiency expert
jobs created
– $4 million in UNDP-GEF funding leveraged
$30 million in additional investment
