Food groups
The body needs a combination of carbohydrates, proteins
and fats in order to function well.
Carbohydrates and proteins contain
roughly the same amount of energy (i.e.
the same number of calories) per gram.
Fats are calorie-rich and contain more
than twice as much energy per gram as
carbohydrates or protein.
Your body also needs vitamins and minerals, which maintain
energy levels and generally keep your body healthy. These
can be obtained by eating a good balance of foods from
these three groups.
